In an icy and hostile universe, life is present with its joys, games, rites and customs. A millennia-old balance between man and nature has allowed them to blossom.
Aqqaluk, the hunter, lives there with his family, but the arrival of explorers from far away where the concept of this fragile balance is unknown, will change the lives of Aqqaluk and his family.
In front of their helpless eyes, the colony of great penguins will disappear, leaving a great void, many questions, but also hope...

The tale is original, and was written by Violaine Fournier based on a true story: the disappearance of the great penguin in Antarctica in 1844. One way of answering the question asked by the children in CE2-CM2 who were involved in writing this opera, when they were asked to say what made them angry: what about you adults, what are you going to do with the earth?

Opera for children's choir (SA), soprano (the storyteller) and instrumental ensemble (violin, bassoon, electric bass and piano) or piano :

he songs can be approached from CP to CM2, corresponding to the entirety of a 1st cycle of FM choral singing.
Covered from the opening by several themes that will flood the rest of the score, the 9 numbers offer numerous combinations of voices (several groups of children who answer each other, canons, superimpositions with the soprano) allowing a simple and effective approach to polyphony.
The universe of the songs is as contrasted as the emotions crossed throughout the story: from the humour and tenderness of the penguins and their clumsy games to the anger of their disappearance, from the softness of a lullaby to the despair of an unfair hunt.
