Francesco Guerrero was a contemporary to Tomás Luis de Victoria and one of the only musicians who made his whole career in Spain and having his works internationally spread. He mostly composed church music and enhances Marian cult with love poems from The Song of Songs. The contrapuntal writing enhances suavitas. The Gregorian melody is softly accompanied by sopranos, altos and basses.
