Compostion for a cappella 3 mixed voices choir by Federico Zandona

This short piece (around 2 minutes) is perfect for any choir. His compositions have already won over Italian choirs, so be the first choirs to introduce him to a wider audience!
To get an idea of his work, listen to Beata progenies, from Deux Motets sung by "Amaryllis".
This short, brilliant mottet is suitable for the Easter season, but also for ordinary times such as the beginning or conclusion of Mass. The text is taken from the first verse of Psalm 97. The composition, which is moderately difficult, is characterised by an ostinato rhythm and the use of a tonal harmonic language.
We might add a suggestion for the distribution of the voices: the 4-voice passage, with the divisi of the sopranos, can also be classically distributed in a 4-voice SATB choir with the tenors singing the altis part and the altis singing the soprano 2 part.

Federico ZANDONA is professor of composition at the Conservatory of Verona (Italy). These 2 motets to the Virgin were composed in Vicenza in 2006 and 2007. This is not difficult contemporary music. The composer's musical discourse is simple. He is one of those composers of today for whom feeling is achieved through harmony, counterpoint and subtle dissonance.
