These songs can be easily performed by every choir and particularly by the beginners. The approach of the polyphony is easy, and the essence of the melody is respected. “Le bonhomme” is a part-song which seems to follow a kind of increasing traditional ribaldry. “L’ânesse est tombée en fossé” is a 3-part mixed voices song based on a popular tradition in which the attorney, the vicar, and all public figures are helping a dying donkey. Both songs are easy to set to music and have lyrics sometimes a little coarse, and every choir can perform it.
