The text was firstly in German, and this is the French translation. There are two versions of this German mass. One is for standard mixed choirs and organs and the other is for standard mixed choirs, organs and orchestras or brasses. This last version was published for the first time in 1870. Schubert probably composed this mass in 1827, a year before he died. Other extracts are available: “Heilig” (ref. ACJ 5017) and “Agnus Dei” (ref. ACJ 5018).
