LA SOUPE AU CAILLOU, composition and texts by Nicole BERNE, musical tale for children with piano accompaniment :
This is the story of a beggar who is always rejected when he asks for food wherever he goes. One day, he finds a beautiful stone by the side of the road and decides to use it to convince people to share their food with him.
This trick sets an amusing tone to this difficult subject, which is why Nicole Berne chose to set to music this traditional tale, well known to children.
On the other hand, in our society, where we tend to ignore the misery and poverty that surrounds us, it seems important to make children aware of the fact that not everyone eats their fill, and the idea of sharing this meal, which ultimately makes everyone happy, is a beautiful image of solidarity, even if it took a "magic" stone to achieve it!
Musical tale for children and equal choir (S):
Texts and melodies are easy to memorize, the piano part is very simple and can be enhanced with or replaced by other instruments ad libitum. A staging of the tale, setting up a decor, or using some puppets will make a wonderful pedagogic project for your classroom.
