Roger Calmel has set himself a clear aim here: to go for clarity, pure lines, not afraid to use pitch perfect tuning. While the overall conception of this score remains complex - musical symbols abound - its choral writing is relatively straightforward, with no unnecessary traps, and each voice well defined and vocally expressive. The work unfolds in twelve different verses, alternating mixed choir and soli, sometimes in dialogue.
