“I don’t pretend to know each and every French Notre Père composed, but I know only three that are sung by heart by church assemblies because their polyphony is simple enough to be easily remembered. These three Notre Père were composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Nicolas Kedroff, and Maurice Duruflé. Even though Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Nicolas Kedroff’s versions are successful adaptations of French lyrics set to a foreign melody.
That is why today’s composers want to suggest various versions for the parishioners to have choice.
This is the reason why I composed this sheet music. My quill dropped soft notes in order to represent the private aspect of Notre Père. This prayer is a solemn and delicate moment of deep contemplation.”
