This very swinging work, for cycle 3 level, for choir with 2 equal voices (that can be sung with one voice) and jazz quintet, is an adaptation of the famous tale of Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, The Nutcracker, revisited by Alexandre Dumas under the french title « Histoire d'un casse-noisette ».
Here, Pierre-Gérard Verny’s arrangements and compositions are frolicking with Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky’s musical themes of the eponymous ballet.
Each picture is illustrated by a song, in which elements of the themes of the ballet will be recognized, enriched with original lyrics, which gives for the first time a vocal jazz creation paying tribute to this essential of the music of the XIXth century.

It is Christmas Eve, a magical night when anything can happen.
In the large decorated living room, President Stahlbaum, a highly regarded man in Nuremberg, and his wife receive the guests who have come to celebrate Christmas Eve with them and their children...

In order to facilitate the learning of these 16 pieces, mp3 audio files are vailable. They include the files of the separate voices for learning (soprano lead and alto ad lib. counterpoint), a complete realization, as well as the playbacks played by a real jazz quintet, for a great flexibility of use: live performance or broadcast of the recording.
