Ubi Caritas et Amor, composed for mixed voices choir by Claude Vercher:
Many are familiar with versions of this hymn by Maurice Duruflé, Jacques Berthier, not forgetting Ola Gjeilo and Jean-Marie Perrotin, some composers referring directly to the initial Gregorian theme.
In this score a sound (and even visual) contrast is established through a dialogue between a few voices and the choir.
Some harmonies can sometimes surprise, but they do not hide the peaceful, even contemplative character that carries this music.
Composed by Claude Vercher for mixed voices choir (SATB).
