This is the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves (Coro di schiavi eberei) extracted from the scene 2 of the 3rd part of Nabucco. Giuseppe Verdi became famous throughout Europe with this opera. It was firstly known with the title “Nabucodonosor” (Nebuchadnezzar). Giuseppe Verdi became closely associated to the Risorgimento. To a certain extent, “Va, pensiero…” became the Italian national anthem under Austrian occupation.
